AADS 4010 - Littérature Africaine Francophone (The Literature of French-Speaking Africa and the Caribbean)(ALCS 4010 , FREN 4010 ) A survey of two principal aspects of literary expression in Francophone Africa, oral and written literature and the social, cultural and historic factors that have given rise to their development throughout the Francophone societies of the African continent. Class participants will develop an ability to read critically in a literature that is the product of cultures that may be unfamiliar to them. Prerequisite(s): FREN 3001 or FREN 3002 or equivalent as determined by placement exam. (3)
