PHIL 2011 - Ancient and Medieval Philosophy This course introduces the student to western philosophy by focusing on the writings of several philosophers from the ancient and medieval periods, including Plato and Aristotle. Topics typically covered include the Socratic method of philosophy, the significance of the human soul, teleological approaches to nature, and the role of faith and reason in the pursuit of knowledge. The goals of this course include improving the student’s capacity for critical reading, writing, and thinking. May be taken either as an Introductory Course or an Upper Level Course.
