PERF 3200 - Theatre of the Black Diaspora(ENGL 3200 ). An interdisciplinary course that uses forms of theatre to engage students in alternative methods for studying critical issues throughout the modern Black Diaspora. The approach studies theatre as literary genre, as staged performance, and explores experiences of people historically identified as black or of African descent throughout the world. Upon completion of course, students understand theatre as both entertainment and social/political commentary, as preservation of history and culture including oral traditions. Prerequisite(s): ENGL 1010 or ENGL 1023H (3)
