FREN 4010 - LITTÉRATURE AFRICAINE FRANCOPHONE (The Literature of French-Speaking Africa)(AADS 4010 ) A survey of two principal aspects of literary expression in Francophone Africa, oral and written literature and the social, cultural and historic factors that have given rise to their development throughout the Francophone societies of the African continent. Class participants will develop an ability to read critically in a literature that is the product of cultures that may be unfamiliar to them. Prerequisites: 6 hours of FREN beyond FREN 2020 , a rating of Intermediate High on the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages (ACTFL) Oral Proficiency Interview, or permission of the instructor.
