PHYS 2510 - Computational Science & EngineeringMATH 2510 Introduction in the use of numerical modeling techniques for solving problems in physics, chemistry, and biology. Initially students will be instructed on the use of numerical modeling software MATLAB and then topics within different fields will be used as a context for learning and applying numerical techniques to solve complex systems problems. The Course will cover simple but fundamental aspects of computer simulations with application to selected physical systems. The focus will be on the strategy for the solution of numerical problems, their computer implementation and analysis of the results. The course will have two lectures and one lab every week. No prior programming experience is required. Prerequisite(s): MATH 2070 . (3, EXPLORATIONS/Scientific Reasoning)
