CHEM 3010 - Physical Chemistry for the Life Sciences Principles of physical chemistry as applied to biological and biomedical systems. Students who complete this course will gain an understanding of the physical properties of solids, liquids, and gases, the laws of thermodynamics, the properties of solutions, principles of chemical equilibria and chemical kinetics, quantum mechanical treatment of atoms and molecules, and the theory and applications of spectroscopy. The course will develop the critical thinking and computational skills of the students. Prerequisite(s): MATH 1070 , PHYS 2010 /PHYS 2010L , and CHEM 3210 /CHEM 3210L . Students may not earn credit for both CHEM 3010 and CHEM 3030 . (3)
