PHIL 1040 - Happiness and the Meaning of Life This course asks two fundamental questions: what is the meaning of life and what is the nature of happiness? Philosophers from diverse traditions will be our guide as we explore ideas about human nature, happiness, life’s purpose, and our place in the universe. By the end of the semester students will be able to clearly identify, analyze, and rationally evaluate the philosophical views taken up in the course. Along the way, students will have opportunities to develop their own ideas on happiness and the meaning of life. Prerequisite(s): Completion of any required developmental reading course.
