IBTH 5063 - Pastoral Counseling: Black Perspectives The course provides a framework for understanding the reality of a person’s being in the world. It has a three-fold focus: 1) to develop the pastoral identity of the counselor; 2) to engage in theological reflection on the pastoral counselor’s relationship with persons whose heritage is African American or another culture; and 3) to enhance the practical skills for ministry to persons who are in crisis or experiencing problems in living.
