SPAN 4015 - Spanish American Women Writers

(WMST 4015 ) The course explores poetry, short stories, and novels by women of the Spanish-speaking countries of Mexico, Central America, South America, and the Caribbean from the Spanish conquest of America to contemporary Spanish America with special attention to the situation of women in different historical contexts and women’s movements in Spanish America. Prerequisites: 6 hours of Spanish beyond SPAN 2020 , a rating of Intermediate High on the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages (ACTFL) Oral Proficiency Interview, or permission of the instructor.
