PERF 4020 - Tourism & Performance

This course addresses tourism in terms of environmental, cultural and social factors, with a specific focus on New Orleans, focusing on how tourism in the city might produce and promote more sustainable, equitable, and inclusive tourist experiences. We will discuss dark tourism, eco-tourism, toxic tourism, cultural and heritage tourism to explore alternative tourism practices that might counteract some of the negative issues and impacts associated with some forms of tourism. Prerequisite(s):  PERF 3010 and PERF 3060 ; or instructor permission. (3)
