HIST 3610 - History of Popular Culture in Africa(AADS 3610 ) This course examines the historical development of diverse forms of African popular culture - including music, dance, film, literature, and visual arts - and their connections with local and global processes of cultural production and consumption. The History of Popular Culture in Africa traces the development of popular culture genres in Africa from the late 19th century to the present. Fulfills history major requirement for three upper-level credits of Developing World History. Prerequisite: 3 credits of HIST. (3)
